Abstract:
The effect of fermented camel milk Gariss and
Gariss supplemented with Bifidobacterium lactis (Bb-12)
on plasma and liver lipids was determined in rats fed on a cholesterol
enriched diet. The two groups decreased the levels of plasma total cholesterol
and the Very Low-Density Lipoprotein (VLDL) and Low-Density Lipoprotein
(LDL) cholesterol than the positive control group. Gariss containing
Bb-12 was more effective in the lowering of plasma and liver cholesterol
levels than Gariss without bifidobacterium.
