In the article entitled “Parasitism of Mesohomotoma tessmanni Aulmann (Psylloidea, Carsidaridae), psyllid pest of Theobroma cacao and Octolobus spectabilis (Sterculiaceae) in Cameroon and taxonomy of parasitoids published in the Journal of Agronomy 2007, 6 (1): 37-44, Psyllaephagus mesohomotomae Tamesse & Tiyo was used as the name of the new species of encyrtid parasitoid of cocoa psyllid, Mesohomotoma tessmanni.
Recently we were informed by John S. Noyes (Leader, Chalcidoidea/Biocontrol group Department of Entomology, Natural History Museum, London) that Psyllaephagus mesohomotomae was already used as the name of a different species by Hayat (2006). Under the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature the name of the Encyrtid parasitoïd of Mesohomotoma tessmanni should be replaced. We proposed the new name Psyllaephagus tessmannii Tamesse & Tiyo to replace the former name Psyllaephagus mesohomotomae Tamesse & Tiyo.
