Germination Ecology of Soybean III: Germination and Seedling Growth of Soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] Var. NARC-I and NARC-II under Salt Stress and Different Levels of pH
Abstract:
The effect of different levels of NaCl solution and pH on germination and seedling growth of two soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] varieties NARC-I and NARC-II was studied. During germination stage, both the varieties tolerated salt stress upto 0.1 M. During growth stage plant biomass decreased by increasing concentration of NaCl solution. The most suitable pH was found to be 3. Both higher and lower levels of pH than 3, reduced germination as well as seedling growth of the two varieties.
