Propose a New Journal

Science Alert is always willing to expand its open access journal collection, and welcomes proposals for new open access journals in all areas of science, technology, and medicine.

Science Alert has been publishing peer-reviewed scholarly journals since 1998, and we currently publish more than 108 journals in a variety of disciplines. All of our journals are open access journals. Science Alert is the the excellent online platform to start your new journal. Science Alert will give global accessibility of your contents; sophisticated online presence and will fulfil your mission to maximizing research dissemination.

If you are interested to start a new journal to provide a home for an emerging field of research OR simply want to provide an open access alternative to existing journals, submit your proposal for launching of new journal with the following information.


1. Names and addresses of proposers, with brief curriculum vitae.
2. Description of the new journal, including the following:
 
Title (note if tentative);
Editor(s) and affiliation(s);
Aims and scope (1–2 pages). This should explain the purpose of the new publication and what topics would be covered. If appropriate, mention topics that would not be included;
Expected contents, by type (e.g. reviews, research papers etc.);
Brief description (150-200 words) for promotional purposes.
3. Overview of existing publications in the field. Why is a new publication needed? What sort of competition would existing publications pose for both contributors and subscribers? Details of circulation and price are helpful.
4. Editorial Board: Names and affiliations. Note whether list is of potential members, whether informally or formally accepted invitation to serve. Comment on composition and role of the board.
5. Editorial operations: Where would contributors send manuscripts? Who would oversee the review process? What kind of peer review system would be employed?
6. Production: What frequency, trim size, number of pages per year, and general design are envisioned?
7. Market: Who would subscribe to such a publication? What number of individuals would be potential subscribers? What number of libraries or other institutions would be potential subscribers? What annual subscription rates are proposed?
8. Promotion: To reach individuals that might contribute and subscribe to the journal, to which organisations, professional or scholarly societies should brochures and calls for papers be sent? Please include UK, European, North American, Australasian and other international organisations.
9. Finance: Is there prospect of the journal being adopted formally or informally by a professional or scholarly society, or otherwise funding some part of the start-up costs?
10. Anticipated launch date.
11. Names and addresses of researchers in this subject area who can be contacted to discuss this proposal.
