This study was carried out to determine the differences in terms of the rate of accepted larvae, lenght of sealed queen cell, queen weight at emergence, rate of mating, pre-oviposition period of queen bees in the colonies queenright and queenless in rearing queens. The differences of the rate of accepted larvae among rearing groups were found very significant in the months of June and August (p<0.01) and significant in July (p<0.05). As the season passed, the amount of accepted larvae decreased in both groups. The differences between the values obtained from the colonies queenright (25.13±0.18 mm) and queenless (30.71±0.14 mm) in terms of the average length of sealed queen cell were found significant (p<0.01), while those between the values of queen weight at emergence, rate of mating and pre-oviposition period were found insignificant (p>0.05). |

An experiment was conducted, using coefficients of Pearson correlation (r), Spearman’s rho (rs) and Kendall’s tau (τ) to invastigate direct and indirect effects among honey yield and brood area, number of frames covered with bees, weight gain during nectar flow period, sealed queen cell height, emergence weight and pre-oviposition period in Caucasian honey bees. Correlation coefficients between honey yield and weight gain during nectar flow period were found positive and higher than that of other correlations in Caucasian honey bee. Number of frames covered with bees had significant positive relationship with honey yield and weight gain during nectar flow period according to r, rs and in Caucasian. Results derivatives exhibited with respect to the 3 relation measures similarity. The direct effect of WGN and BA on honey yield and indirect effect of NFB on honey yield via WGN were found high and positive in respect of r, rs and τ |
